So we went to see Twilight last weekend. I know, I’m a little behind on the bandwagon, but we were a part of the 100 gazillion dollar weekend opening. Anyway, Peggy had forced me to read the book and I got through it ok. It wasn’t too bad so when she asked we all go to see it, I thought back to all the Star Wars/Star Trek movies she has seen for us and bit my lip. How bad could it be. Yeah, right.

I realized there is a reason why I refuse to go to a movie on opening weekend. We had to stand in line for like almost an hour. Here I am, standing in line to see a movie I don’t want to see for an hour. And you know the Calvert theater isn’t letting anybody in even on a pretty chilly night.

I realized I am as old as dirt. Seriously, Mose and I were on a first name basis and Adam was only like a couple classes ahead. The median age had to be like 16. We stuck out like a sore thumb and the kiddies saw it. I felt like someone was going to come and ask me if I needed help finding the right theater.

I realized I am a male. I liked the book ok but it’s mainly because I’m into the whole Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre. I have watched a ton of vampire movies (a lot of bad ones) and read a ton of vampire books (my favorite series might be the Masquerade of the Red Death, those were awesome). Even as I read the book, I got the whole young girl vibe. There was just a little too much detail about Edward. This became much stronger when I was in an actual theater filled with snicker adolscent girls.

I realized I have male offspring. Two of them. Staring at me in the back of my head. Very angry that they’re watching this. Sorry fellas.

I realized that I still have issues with the Calvert theater. We love Calvert and we’ve lived her forever. We love how we’ve been able to maintain a smaller town feel but man I wish the movie theater would upgrade just a little. How about letting me buy a ticket online or with a credit card. I mean I still have to call the place half the time to find out when a movie starts because it isn’t online.

Hey, if you liked the movie, great. More power to you. But if you’re a mid-thirties male with a wife and two sons, when your wife asks to go to the film, drive her there and wish her a good time as you walk into the Bond movie. I’m still mad I missed Max Payne.

And if you work at the Calvert theater, how about at least making sure the movie times are online. And maybe a credit card machine. How bout it?
